I\u2019m Dr. Nancy Verdonck, ophthalmologist in Brussels.<\/p>\n

I started my Medical School in Namur at the Facult\u00e9s Universitaires Notre Dame de la Paix and continued in Leuven at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL).<\/p>\n

I was taught Ophthalmology at the University Hospitals in Leuven and got a surgical training in Torquay Torbay Hospital UK.<\/p>\n

I have been working as a specialized in cataract surgery and medical retina since 2004.<\/p>\n

My goal is to treat you with the latest techniques, matching your expectations with what\u2019s best for your eyes.<\/p>\n

I studied Medicine and specialised in Ophthalmology at the university of Leuven (KUL Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) and in the UK (Sidcup).<\/p>\n

I developed a special interest in Glaucoma and Neuro-Ophthalmology.<\/p>\n

General Eye Exam<\/h4>

Prescription of glasses-eye fundus-ocular tension-visual field-biometry-OCTscan-YAGlaser<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Glaucoma<\/h4>

Eye disease caused by high eye pressure. The altered visual field is not noticed by the patient initially.
\nScreening is therefore necessary starting at the age of 50.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Cataract Surgery<\/h4>

Cataract is an opacification of the intra ocular lens. Symptoms are visual haze and glare. The operation consists in replacing the lens by a implant (monofocal\/multifocal\/toric). It takes 15min. under topical anesthesia.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Intravitreal Injections<\/h4>

Is needed in wetAMD, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema,.. It takes a few seconds under topical anesthesia.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Neuro ophthalmology<\/h4>

Double vision, CVA, optic neuritis, headache<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Age related macular degeneration<\/h4>

Disease of the macula more and more encountered in the Western world. There are 2 forms: dry and humid. Diagnosis is made by fluo-angiography and OCT. Screening is advised starting at the age of 50.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
